FONGUS
      Guadalajara Rock

This band from Guadalajara is by far the oldest band in this report, but in the beginning they had nothing to do with Metal. You should not put the first albums on to your want list, as they are rare and expensive and are not even Hard Rock. In 1981 teh band released another album in 70s Rock style, which was totally unknown until recently! It has a very unique cover, as the pictures you can see are from the insert cover, and you see them through some cut outs in the outside cover! This looks like it was handmade from the band itself!! The independent LP from 1983 is also rare, but the tank and weapon cover and the name "Metal" is misleading, as it contains only weak Hard Rock. Finally, at the third try, they delivered a really good Power Metal album. The last one is still traditional Metal, but mixes with Thrash and some modern influences. This is the band of Jorge Lopez, who took his time in between the releases, and presented for every new album two other legionnaire musicians. Even the band existed such a long time, they did not have much influence in the scene. It seems they always jumped to the respective trends of the time. NEPHYLA
    Codigo del Phyto

Grindcore is characterized by a noise-filled sound that uses heavily distorted, down-tuned guitars, grinding overdriven bass, high speed tempo, blast beats, and vocals which consist of growls and high-pitched shrieks. Lyrical themes range from a primary focus on social and political concernsAnd that’s what we get with this two girls from Oaxaca México jusf fucking female grindcore.
If you like grindcore, you will like this. If you don’t, you should listen anyway and get schooled. It’s harsh, fast and sweaty while being more fulfilling and more tolerable than the nine minutes your girlfriend has to endure your harsh, fast, and sweaty panting and wriggling on top of her. UMBRAE
    Infamous Revelations

Umbrae was formed in the last years of the past century by young men who needed an escape. Sick and tired of hideous units that defined the metal scene on their homeland, they decide to take the task themselves and create a new concept in metal, at least to their tiny piece of earth.

Thus, Macklen Mingura and Ivan Perales begin de-composing their own music. Shortly after that, and having tested several talents that didn´t fit in their vision, they ran into Victor Hernandez, former frontman and moving force behind the legendary Black-Death Metal band named Mortigena, who agrees to work with them and introduces a new concept of heavier sound in the novel band. The coin was in the air. Victor also carries with him another crucial piece for the whole project. He introduces his bandmates to a former Mortigena bandmate, keyboard rapist Galia Mireles, who gladly accepts the wager and enters the team. The circle comes full with the addition of Julio Rodriguez on Bass Guitar, a young lad carrying a wide experience on local bands and a variety of musical styles that came to solidify what would become UmbraE´s sound.

After a handful of months at rehearsal, they decide to put their work on record and enter the gates of DPS Studios, Chihuahua, to record their first album. Thirteen tracks of moody, yet colorful music which just barely can be labeled as one single genre. This broad their limits are. Completely self produced, with no sponsorship whatsoever, they release Infamous Revelations on CD, on the summer of 2000. Quite a kickoff for the new century. The record promptly climbed to the first places of popularity in their hometown, giving the band a name in the metal scene even in nearby cities. Despite its short quantity (only 150 copies were released, numbered and signed by the authors) Infamous Revelations reached to places far away from were it saw the light. Reviews on fanzines all over their country were supportive to the opus and the Internet also received it with enthusiasm. Three months in a row in the three first places in the Mexican Metal charts on MP3.Com as well as several good critics on webzines around the world hailed Infamous Revelations as a worthy start-up.

Now, almost a year after the initial thrill, UmbraE has received a few job offers in Metal Labels worldwide. Ready to hit the studio again, they expect to record their second album before 2001 is gone forever. Also, it is very possible that a new edition of Infamous Revelations is released with certainly more than 150 copies. If you are a fan, you can be sure that you will hear more from this unit. If you are not, uhhh.you will too. Review by   http://www.holynoise.com .

EL DIABLO
    El Diablo

El Diablo is a Mexican band which started playing hardcore, and then some psychedelic rock, they were inspired by bands such as PINK FLOYD,GURU GURU and TANGERINE DREAM to mention a few, they started making improvisations, and most of their early songs are instrumentals, with an obvious GONG influence and psychedelic sound.
In 1999 they met Jose Luis Garnica of Smogless Records, he listened to their Demo, and he decided to record their first album called "El Diablo".
They have made another 2 albums by themselves. They have changed some of their members, there were three bassists in their history.
Their first self-titled album and the only one with a label is great, we can hear some Psychedelic rock and some symphonic passages with some great space effects.
It is a good band, something new in Mexico, definitely recommended for any prog fan. Maybe is not everyone's cup of tea, but give it a chance. Review by  http://www.progarchives.com , http://cabezademoog.blogspot.mx  and http://www.therocktologist.com.
