FONGUS
Guadalajara Rock
This band from Guadalajara is by far the oldest band in this
report, but in the beginning they had nothing to do with Metal. You should not
put the first albums on to your want list, as they are rare and expensive and
are not even Hard Rock. In 1981 teh band released another album in 70s Rock
style, which was totally unknown until recently! It has a very unique cover, as
the pictures you can see are from the insert cover, and you see them through
some cut outs in the outside cover! This looks like it was handmade from the
band itself!! The independent LP from 1983 is also rare, but the tank and
weapon cover and the name "Metal" is misleading, as it contains only
weak Hard Rock. Finally, at the third try, they delivered a really good Power
Metal album. The last one is still traditional Metal, but mixes with Thrash and
some modern influences. This is the band of Jorge Lopez, who took his time in
between the releases, and presented for every new album two other legionnaire
musicians. Even the band existed such a long time, they did not have much
influence in the scene. It seems they always jumped to the respective trends of
the time. Review by http://www.metaleros.de
